Fresh Start helps those in need discover a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through relevant teaching, practical mentoring, and relationship building. We help people transition from destructive habits into lifestyles of hope, peace, and new-found direction in Christ. If you’re interested in getting plugged in to this ministry, please contact us at!

Mentors are available to provide spiritual and life guidance to help people with their Christian walk and life skills.

Each Christmas, fruit sacks are filled and distributed to inmates and staff at the Cass and Clay County Jails.

First Assembly is pleased to introduce Living Free as a part of our discipleship program in 2018. Living Free is a Christ-centered discipleship program designed for church-based ministry and is used in prisons, Christian counseling, Adult and Teen Challenge, and other Christian rehabilitation programs. It is distinct from Celebrate Recovery in that it provides 26 small group curriculums covering such topics as anger, conflict resolution, depression, eating disorders, grief, and parenting. The mission is to help individuals, families, and communities dealing with life-challenging and life-controlling problems to find wholeness in Christ.

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program to help people overcome their hurts, habits and hang-ups.  It is based on God’s Word, the Bible.  CR focuses on the future, emphasizes personal responsibility and spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ, and utilizes the biblical truth that we need each other in order to grow spiritually and emotionally. CR is built around small group interaction and the fellowship of a caring community.

Fresh Start Group

Thursdays, 6:30 to 8:30 PM / Coffee Shop /

Fresh Start is a group that encourages discipleship and relationship building.  An emphasis is made on helping persons new in their faith and those recently moving in or out of recovery.  We meet to study scripture and provide biblical teaching to help each individual experience Jesus and live like Him.  Proverbs 27:17 – “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Fresh Start also works in cooperation with 2nd Chance Career Fair, Police Officers Jail Chaplains Association, Redemption Road Ministries, and the group provides chaplains for the Cass and Clay County Jails.
